There are many celebrations in life that lend themselves to events, from birthdays and graduations to baby showers and engagement parties; the list goes on. Planning an event is a big task and it can be quite stressful at times for newcomers to the event space. To lend a helping hand, we’ve put together a list of some of the most important things to consider when it comes to planning your next event.

Pick the perfect venue

Choosing the right venue for your event is of the utmost importance. Once you have your heart set on one, it’s crucial to book your venue as soon as possible to avoid missing out on your intended date and time. Here at Cecconi’s, our space presents a casually elegant atmosphere, ideal for a number of celebrations. In our flexible space we can cater for a variety of events ranging from breakfasts, lunches and dinners to cocktail parties or a celebration that’s a little bit different. Our private dining room can be used for sit-down events with 10 to 30 guests or a stand-up event for 50. For a truly unique event, we can make Cecconi’s exclusively yours, with full use of all dining and bar areas for your event’s duration.

Perfect the seating plan

As much as we wish for our friends and family to get along perfectly, this is often wishful thinking. There are usually tiffs in every family…put Uncle Michael and Grandpa Joe together and you’ll have a very lively debate. To avoid cases like this, sometimes it’s easier to seat them apart from one another. If you’re planning on having a sit-down lunch or dinner for your event, you have ultimate control over who sits where. If you’re hosting a cocktail style event however, you lose this control as guests are free to roam around the space. Food for thought!

Ensure there’s enough food and drinks

No one wants to leave an event hungry. Food and drinks make people happy – the smile on people’s faces when their meal comes out is enough evidence to support this. If you’re having a sit-down meal as part of your event, a three-course menu is the perfect option. On the other hand, if you plan on hosting a stand-up event, canapes may be the best choice. Consulting your venue to see what they recommend in terms of food and drink servings is a good idea.

Be positive

Not all events run smoothly – that’s just life! Mistakes happen and things may not go exactly to plan. If a few people don’t show up or someone forgot to bring the decorations, don’t panic. The show must go on so breathe and take it all in your stride. Be happy, keep your sense of humour, and your event will be a great success!
